10.7.10: Chuck Tailors

On Monday I noticed that Rex's toes were at the end of his shoes.

On Tuesday Rex refused to wear shoes.

On Wednesday Greg and I took him to the mall to buy new shoes. I had already looked at Target and decided that none of the shoes were cute enough to merit $20. One pair was even soft bottomed. Really? I had planned to go to Kid to Kid, but I got distracted talking to a good friend, so I had to rush to pick Greg up from work and talk to some irritating financial planners. So we just went to the mall.

(Side note: As we're getting ready to leave for the mall, Greg and I were putting our shoes on, so Rex runs to his room, opens his drawer and brings me his sandals that are now 2 sizes too small. I put his brown sandals on over his black socks. We live in Utah. It's ok here.)

We tried Sears first. They had some cute shoes, but Rex did not want to try them on. You'd think we were cutting his feet off with the way he was acting. Kicking and screaming and running and crying. And that was just to get one shoe on. Geez. Next we tried JC Penny, where Greg managed to get two shoes on Rex but he refused to walk with them on and continued crying and screaming. Next stop Payless. They have the ugliest little boy shoes. And they are the same price as the good looking, brand name shoes at Sears and JC Penny. Anyway, by the time we got to Payless, we'd learned our lesson and didn't take Rex out of the stroller, so he tucked his feet under the foot rest and refused to try any on. They were ugly anyway. We ended up going back to JC Penny and getting Rex the above adorable Velcro Chuck Tailors.

On Thursday, Rex put his new shoes on without a fight. Whatever. But he does trip on them quite a bit.

Why don't they carry half sizes in baby shoes?
