Toys!

After a year of talking about it, six months of budgetting for it, and three months of looking for it, Greg and I finally bought an arm chair for the living room. Actually, Greg bought the chair. I picked it out and talked about ordering it, but being my parents' child (they've been "looking" for a TV for 2 years), I was only ever going to talk about it. Wednesday, Greg came home and told me he had purchased the chair, and on Friday, Rex and I spent the whole day sitting in the front window waiting for the delivery truck. It finally arrived at 6:30. And it looks so good. It's not the most comfortable chair, but why are you lounging on my nice room furniture anyway.

Possibly the best is that we ordered it on-line so the chair came in a huge box. And you know what huge boxes are good for...club houses. Greg and I spent a few hours after dinner tonight turning the box into a rad clubhouse for Rex. Too bad, he's pretty unsure of it and will only go inside if one of us in there. Greg took a nap in the club house actually. I'm hoping that in the next few days he'll warm up to it and the weather will warm up so I can move it out of my living room and into the backyard.

I spy with my little eye...

I hated this game when I was a kid. Noah always wanted to play it on long car trips and I, well, hated it. Now "I Spy" is one of Rex's and my favorite games. On Friday we spent about 45 minutes sitting/standing in front of our large front window playing "I Spy." Mostly I just play. It doesn't take me long to guess what I spy but I hope I'm also helping improve Rex's vocabulary and color recognition. If nothing else, it keeps up busy.

It finally fits!

My favorite NICU nurse made this for Rex when he was 5 pounds 10 ounces and 17 1/2 inches long. That was eleven months ago, and the little sweater and booties just now fit him. There's also a hat, but, unfortunately, Rex has outgrown it. The nurse said Rex was a complicated baby, hence the multi-colored selves, but that Dad (Greg) was blue, hence the blue front. I know she sounds crazy, but Charlotte (or at least that's what I think her name is) cared. The rest of the nurse just poked the poor little guy without a second thought. So thanks crazy nurse who actually cared for my child while he was being held captive.

I gave in...

So my good friend Deidre visited me today and I looked like a total idiot because I thought she was living in Boston, but no, she is living in Phoenix, which I didn't know because I don't read her blog, and I started this one, mostly so I can read everyone elses.
