11.2010: Sneak Peak

We got family pictures taken in October. Here's a little something to wet you appetite. Some of you will be getting more of these around Christmas.

11.13.10: Signing Time

A few weeks ago I entered a give-away on my friend's blog for a free Baby Signing Time DVD. And I was certain I would win because we're friends.

Now normally I don't allow Rex to watch TV (except Conference, of course), but I did allow some YouTubing of Signing Time in preparation for our big win. Also, I am a little sick of not being able to communicate with him. He still doesn't say many words and the words he does say all sound the same. I've heard that learning sign not only allows babies to communicate earlier through sign but also improves their verbal communication skills later.

And so we watched a few Signing Time clips a few days ago.

Rex is in love.

He brings me Greg's laptop to play Caterpillar Dreams for him (that's the only one he likes), or he escapes downstairs and I find him sitting at the computer waiting for me. I finally give in and tell him he can watch it once, but he also figured out how to make the video replay, over and over and over again. And the song makes Greg nauseous, I got to make dinner without stepping on any little toes, or having a few extra ingredients added.

By the way, I didn't win. Thanks Amy. Some friend you are.

11.12.10: Tennis Ball

This is Rex's new favorite game. He made it up himself.

Equiptment:
Any type of racket
Several balls, all the balls in the house if possible--all sizes and bounce-y allowed
Large room

Rules:
1. Hit the ball to Mom.
2. Mom returns ball.
3. Hit the ball to the wall.
4. Insist on having the same ball as Reagan even though there are several other balls to hit.
5. Mom must play and is not allowed to take pictures (Really that's what he's saying--Moma, moma)

11.2010: Meet Reagan

This is Reagan. She is about 2 feet tall, 24 pounds, 15 months old, and as cute as can be. She has recently joined our family on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm. And she is quite the doll. Her mother dresses her entirely in Baby Gap so I can take her out in public without having to explain to people that my baby is the cute one and I'm just watching the ugly one so don't judge me for having a dirty baby. Aside from being well-dressed and having adorable curly hair, she is very well behaved. Rex is working on sharing, but Reagan doesn't cry when Rex takes her toys; she just takes them back. She is also very good at entertaining herself, so that when she wakes up before Rex after naptime, she just wanders around while I finish up whatever I was doing. She also is pretty flexible with her nap schedule, which is nice so I can put both babies done for a nap at the same time. I don't know if it's ok to say this, but all things considering, she might be more perfect than Rex. Don't get me wrong, Reagan does like to take her plate into the living room and scatter her food around the house, but if I have to babysit, I pick Reagan. She's been a lot of fun for me and Rex--we love having an extra, well-behaved, well-dressed playmate around.

Rex and Reagan eating a snack together. They are still working on their table manners and haven't quite figured out that I feed them the same thing so they are constantly stealing each other's food.

Did I mention Reagan's parents actually pay me?

11.2010: Fall

After taking about a month off of life and hiding out indoors and doing hardly anything, Rex and I decided to take advantage of the last bit of outdoor time. I know we're a little late, but fall just hit our part of the valley in full force.

Whenever we go outside, we end up in the car. Rex loves playing in the car and even tries to get into other people's cars. Last week I left him playing in the car with the radio running while I took the groceries inside. My battery was dead for a week and took several jumps and a few full recharges before it decided to be dependable again.

Rex and his buddy Reagan, who is actually a girl but is wearing Rex's clothes to keep warm, sitting on the neighbor's porch.

Leaves.

More leaves.
I am much enjoying the cooler fall weather and dressing Rex and myself up. This will, however, get tiring very soon.
