We interrupt this birthday week series...

Greg's birthday was on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, Rex came into my room around 5 complaining of a giant headache.  As I rolled my fat self out of bed to get some Tylenol, Rex turned and ran to the bathroom--just in time.  Everything in his stomach into the toilet.   I then made him a bed on the couch so he could be closer to the potty, turned my alarm off and went back to bed.  Henry waking up Monday night covered in hot dog puke was starting not to look like eating 3 hot dogs and toothpaste for dinner mess, added to Greg's stomach issues, which were looking less like food poisoning, we were in for a few rough days.

The other kids woke up around 7 and despite the glorious March weather and our planned park day, we stayed home.  After some morning chores, Alice, Henry and I headed to the neighbor's to borrow their trampoline for a bit.  We couldn't just sit inside and mope all day.  Besides, I wanted Rex to rest, which would not happen with those two around.  After jumping for a while, Alice said her tummy wasn't feeling too well, so we headed home where she pottied in the sick way.  By now it was 10, Greg was waking up and eating his breakfast pizza from the previous day and said he was feeling better.  I, however, was not.  I then realized how not good Greg had felt the previous day.  I left Greg to play with Henry and Alice while I laid down for a just a bit.  Three hours later...I made chicken soup for me and Rex before again hiding on the couch for another 3 hours.

You can guess the rest of the day.

And the next.

Greg did go back to work on Thursday but the kids and I stayed home and watched way too much TV again.  Even Alice, our TV junkie, got sick of watching TV.

This is the first time I've been sick since...high school?  Aside from the parasite or whatever I got in Ecuador that laid me out for nearly three weeks.  I've always wondered what moms do when they're sick.  I was lucky.  I got to do my usual sick or nearly-sick Heather thing: sleep (my theory is that if you're sick or feel yourself getting sick, just take the day and sleep because that's all you can do keep from getting more sick and if you're sick or getting sick, then your body needs to rest--don't push it, just take one mildly sick day and sleep it off--better than a week of actual sick days.)  Luckily Greg has a really flexible job so I didn't have to worry about being mom for a day, and everybody else was feeling a little down so they didn't even make a mess all over the house.

Thursday night, Greg grilled up the rest of his birthday steak and everyone was feeling much better so we enjoyed the upper-70s and sunny weather for a while before an early bedtime for everyone.

Friday was back to normal: Rex went to school, Greg went to work, Alice went to dance and then refused to go to Target and insisted on just playing at the park, which I thought she deserved after being the only non-sickie in the house for a week.  That night, Greg took the kids camping on the far end of the property.  Henry and I hung out until about 9, when we decided to go to bed, so Greg hiked with us back to the house where Henry and I had a fitful night's sleep while Greg and the other kids also did not sleep well in the tent, but we needed to get out and do something fun after a week of the pukes and Alice, again being the only non-sickie, picked camping.  I didn't take any pictures though because I was consciously trying to enjoy the moment and being with my family,
