Greg's 31 or Birthday week part 1

As previously mentioned on this blog somewhere, all the boys in our family have their birthdays within one week.  We start the week off with Greg on March 8.

Last year sometime he saw a YouTube video of a little girl, as in a small child, who had a CVS themed birthday party and decided that he would have a QT themed party (it's a gas station.  A nice gas station with friendly staff and a wide selection of items, but a gas station nonetheless).  Because Greg buys himself birthday presents every year (he got a bike this year), the only way I can show I care is by throwing him parties.  So this year was QT-themed.  As requested.

The kids and I made a few birthday banners out of QT napkins and a centerpiece from a QT slushie cup.  We also used QT napkins at breakfast and dinner.

The morning of his birthday, Alice and I rushed off to QT as soon as we put Rex on the bus to get Greg QT breakfast pizza. Nasty I know, but that's what he wanted.  We made it home before Greg or Henry woke up.  Unfortunately, Greg woke up with the worst stomach pain he'd had in a long time and blamed it on food poisoning.  He kindly blew out a candle and put his pizza back in the fridge, then went back to bed.  He also opened his favorite present: Tupperware cups from my mom--I kid you not, he's obsessed with these cups and refuses to let me use glass cups at dinner anymore.

Greg slept/rested/played with his bike the rest of the day.
I thought he looked like the Denise the Menace.  He's cute but oh-so-naughty.

For dinner, Greg requested flat iron steak, twice baked potatoes, beets and goat cheese (which I turned into a salad with some walnuts and arugula) and a black forest cake.  By the time dinner was ready, Greg was feeling a bit better so had a bit of dinner, opened his present from the kids and blew more candles out on his cake, before again retiring to his couch as the meal was a bit too much for his sick tummy to handle.   I will say, for as much as women like to make fun of men for being babies when they're sick, Greg isn't one of those guys.  He still put on a happy face and let the kids enjoy his birthday.  It wasn't until the next day that I realized how bad he'd felt all day and didn't let on.

Should I list some major milestones for Greg for the past year?

Nicknames: Greg, Dad, Daddy
Likes to: shoot things, sharpen knives, ride his bike, play catch with Rex, invent ridiculous scenarios about the kids toys, hang Henry from the ceiling, and sleep on the couch
Major milestones: secured two outside contracts to build two new software tools, baby number 4 on the way.
New words:  actually Greg has a fairly large vocabulary and despite spending copious amounts of time with children under the age of 7 retains most of it and isn't the stereotypical parent only capable of talking about children's bodily functions.

Here's to another year of awesomeness.

Then Henry found some gum and put it in his mouth, closely followed by the paci.

The cake--minicing the QT logo...until I ran out of room. Oops.

The kids insisted it couldn't be a birthday party without dancing.  Watch out Napoleon, these kids are ready for any stake dance you can throw at them.
