Henry is 2! and the end of birthday week

Birthdays are a big deal at our house.  1. Because I like throwing (small) parties, but mostly because 2. Greg is super fun to give presents to so when we first got married birthdays just became a big deal and have stayed that way.
Attempt 1 at a decent birthday picture
Having said that, I feel bad for Henry being at the end of birthday week so try hard to make his birthday separate and not just a run-off of Rex's.  But I did decide that Henry's birthday activity this year would be the aquarium as well, because, he had fun too.  So Henry's birthday started on Saturday with the acquarium, skipped Sunday for Rex's birthday and then picked back up on Monday for his birthday.
Notice how Henry got the truck lunch bag at the aquarium and not a Minecraft one like Rex and his friend, because it was Henry's birthday too.

Henry LOVES water. As in, I have to keep my bathroom doors closed at all time so he doesn't climb onto the toilets to turn the sink on then proceed to fill all the drawers with water.  As such, he got mostly bath toys for his birthday.  But he's been banned from the bathtub (along with Rex and Alice) for dumping half a bath of water on the floor, and throwing the other half at the ceiling and getting so much water all over the bathroom that it got inside the picture frames and caused water damage.  SOOOO, Henry had a pool party instead.  And no, it wasn't really warm enough to swim but Henry didn't care.

Henry also loves hot dogs, strawberries and soda, so we had his party outside by the fire.  I also remembered to take a lot more pictures of Henry's birthday than of Rex's.  Look, Henry isn't the completely neglected and ignored third child.

Henry and Alice filled up the pool in the morning to give the water some time to warm up before the party.

Not technically cross-dressing since Robin is a boy.

Another one of those things--why did I spent an hour cutting out these letters?  Hopefully so Henry knows that he is loved and appriciated enough for me to spend an hour cutting out letters for his cupcakes, not cake. Henry specifically requested cupcakes, not a cake.

Henry even got to roast his own hotdog.

Stealing Rex's strawberries

Henry refusing to put down his hotdog long enough to open presents.

Trying out his new balance bike

Rex and Alice on their matching scooters (Rex got his scooter for his birthday)

So excited to finally get a turn to blow out the candles!

 Let's see, milestones for Henry:
--Talks.  A lot.  In complete sentences, complete with questions and answers.
--Sleeps.  A lot.  He sleeps 11-12 hours at night and 3-4 during the day.  He is often my favorite child.
--Still obsessed with his paci and has one in his mouth most of the time, and often has a back up in his hand.
--Memorized a few books, namely "It's Christmas David" and "David Goes to School"
--Learns people's names fast
--Thinks his proper place in the house is the kitchen counter
--Will sit at the dinner table as soon as it's set waiting for food--sometimes for 30 minutes or more
--Can count to 12
--Knows the names of most colors
--Recently revealed that he knows what an H is ("What's that? H for Hen"--he asks and answers his own questions).

Despite still having the most ear-splitting scream I've ever heard, we've also decided to keep him.

  1. Henry, I realize that you are your own little person. I have enjoyed taking you to the library for the last couple of weeks. Hope to do more of that when school's out. I just hope they still have library story time. You sit quietly in my lap most of the time, but when the librarian started to read "Dear Zoo" and you started screaming out the names of the animals in the story (giraffe, camel, etc.) it made me laugh, and the other moms too.
