Saturdays in the Fall

Fall is pretty magical.  It's not quite my favorite anymore because it precedes winter, which I hate almost as much as I hate spring, but especially in Charlotte, it's pretty nice.

Saturday Greg decided to go hunting on his mom's property in Statesville, leaving me home with the children.  Normally, I would just make them clean but the weather was so perfect and Rex has been driving me absolutely bonkers climbing on everything in our house, I decided we'd hike to an old tree for Rex to climb on.  It was a mile in and an mile out and we mostly made the trip without stopping and only Henry doing some major whining on the way back.  Rex isn't a huge fan of hiking but he only asked like 50 times if we were there yet.  He also said the tree didn't count as climbing because he mostly just walked to the top. You just can't please every one.  Zora also insisted on walking most of the way back since she doesn't like being carried in the Ergo on the front, but I was also carrying a back pack so she couldn't ride on the back.  The going was a little slow but I enjoyed the fresh air at least.  Next time I might leave the kids at home, but I think they preferred this to cleaning.

Can you spot Rex at the top of this tree that doesn't count as a climbing tree?

  1. That looks like a lot of fun. Is this a mile walk from your backyard? Or did you have to drive somewhere and walk a mile?
