Henry at School

Henry is doing a little co-op preschool with two little girls from our ward this year and they are just to die for cute.  Henry struggles to get along with boys his age, but girls, they seem to understand him, especially Odessa and Penny.  Every Tuesday is his favorite day because he gets to go to one of his friends' houses and play.  And every Tuesday when I pick him up, he tells me to go home and that he's not coming with me.  After last year with Henry when I couldn't even take him to the park because he hit and punched the other kids so much, this is such a blessing to have two tough, sweet, kind, and loving girls who just love Henry.  And Henry loves them.

And he's also learning a lot.  We're doing Peaceful Preschool and I just love it because it is peaceful.  I plan a few activities but we focus mostly on social skills and playing well with each other.  Henry is also learning the letters of the alphabet and can tell you what most of them say and how to draw them and a word that starts with that letter, but he refuses to actually draw them.  We're working on writing his name--he can spell it but gets too frustrated at his inability to write perfect letters to even try most days.  He'll get there.  Henry, more than my other kids, is teaching me that intelligence is not a finite quality measured in a one way but a process show over a life time.

But he still just wears himself out.  He's stopped napping most days because he'd rather play in the flour (his special treat for behaving until nap time) but he still likes a good snuggle.  He is a sweet sweet boy.

  1. Girls don't compete to be the alpha male, that's why they get along with Henry. I think the boys understand him all too well...
