Hello twenty thirteen

About two weeks ago, I decided that I would make New Years day the perfect day and I would do everything right.  I don't know why I decided to wait to have the perfect day or why I procrastinated my repentance in a lot of other areas but I did.  Whatever.  And while I still have a few more hours of January 1, I've done pretty good at getting everything right.

I started off the day with some scripture reading...at 12:45 am. I was just going to go to sleep and start my good day in the morning but then I reminded myself that 12:45 am is technically January 1 so I read.  My favorite chapter of all time: Moses 1.  Good day.

Then I slept and for the first time in probably a month both of my children slept all night long.  What?!? I know: I slept uninterrupted from 1 to 7:24 am (Alice's new wake up time).  Then, because I was going to do everything right, I got both my kids a sippy of milk and we had a nice long milk cuddle.  For like 45 minutes. Rex just loves to cuddle in the morning.  Then we played for a while.  I snuck out around 8:30 to eat breakfast.  Then we played some more.  I made breakfast for the kids.  Then we played with the goo Amber got Rex for Christmas.  Seriously, Rex was in a big Tupperware full of goo for at least an hour.  I did a few dishes, then reminded myself that I was going to do everything right, so I sat down and played with the goo until it got cold and Rex's naked bum started hurting.  I stuck the kids in the shower (remember we still don't have a functioning bathtub), poured the goo in the shower and did some dishes.  After dressing the kids, I went on a nice long solo run while Greg played with the kids.  4.18 miles.  That's the furthest I've run in years.  Rex can really only stand to be in the stroller for about 20 minutes so I usually only get in about 2.5 miles.  I think I may run solo more often.

Alice did NOT want to get in...Rex, on the other hand, completely naked as soon as I said "goo."
Next, nap time.  I rocked Alice to sleep and then read to Rex for a while before I fell asleep and he escaped to watch Greg play video games.  I woke up an hour later to a still-sleeping Alice, and a totally-entertained Greg and Rex.  I then spent the next two hours catching up on bills.  Seriously, I am so slow and I still have a bunch of phone calls to make that I couldn't make today because it's a holiday (more on that later, maybe).  I'm slow enough that Greg got annoyed and tried to take over but he doesn't know my crazy ways so he went back to playing video games.  Alice woke up around 3:30.  I held her for while, changed her diaper, made the beds, did the dishes (again), and made dinner for the first time in 4 days, that's how many leftovers we had.

We topped the night off with a trip to Cold Stone to use some gift certificates, then to Food Lion to use a $5 off a $5 purchase Amber sent me (thanks, by the way), and came home to play some more.  We played ride bikes and drive the (play) car before finally cleaning up the toy room after like 3 days and putting the kids to bed, which included more stories and cuddling.

This is right before she wiped her face all over my brand new jacket.
Then I wrote my family newsletter, sold a textbook back, and am now doing this.

All in all, I'd say I did a pretty good job at doing everything right today.  I didn't get annoyed with Rex for never shutting up; I played with my negeled Alice; I cooked dinner; I ran; I read my scriptures.  Ok, well, I didn't shower, but it's a holiday and neither did Greg so that doesn't count.  It's been a good day.  Maybe I'll try again tomorrow...maybe.

Oh and just for traditions sake, my New Year's Resolutions, which, by the way, are not the same as the last two years because I still haven't done those so obviously they aren't that important.

1. Don't talk about money.
2. Magnify my calling.
3. Go to the temple at least 4 times (don't judge--it's at least a 9 hour and $100 commitment here...whelp there goes #1).
4. Graduate.
5. Move.
6. Totally finish at least 2 values for Personal Progress.
7. Sew something I'm proud of.
8. Improve my scripture study.
9. Eight's a good number.  I'll stop there.

Op, just remembered that I did not take down the Christmas decorations like I usually do on New Years.  Oh, well.  I played with goo instead.  Today still counts as a good day.
