Christmas

I know I'm over a week late on this, but I just had a few things I wanted to say.  Mostly that while I felt like a complete Grinch most of the season for reasons previously mentioned, I don't think I ruined Christmas for anyone.  And I think the kids quite enjoyed it.  Rex is almost old enough to really get into Christmas and the greed of it all.  Almost.  We have a few more years of his innocent desire for a single toy before the full fledged tearing through all the presents and then asking "What next?" sets in.  In a way I look forward to it.  As it is now, opening presents is somewhat painful.  Rex asked for one thing--a bow and arrow, which he got from Santa and our Santa doesn't wrap presents so he got that first.  And then he was pretty much done opening presents because he needed to practicing shooting his bow and arrow.  He was excited to open the next few, but we had to get out our parent voices to get him to open the rest.  Alice on the other hand, didn't really care at all.  She spied Autumn's baby, took the baby and was off.  I don't think she opened a single present.  I think Rex opened all hers.  Alice just wanted Autumn's baby.

There were a few things I loved about Christmas this year.  1. Paula Dean's make-ahead, baked French toast.  Awesome.  Greg made it so I can say that (though I found the recipe).  I think this will be a new tradition.  2. Eating out Chinese for dinner.  Thank you Bakers for that tradition.  I love it.   (I'm starting to think that food is the only thing I like about holidays.) 3. Amber and family.

Yeah I still sound like a complete Grinch.  Guess I won't be getting any gifts next year...I do like presents.  I'll work on my Grinch-y-ness.
