Recently Greg and I hid our credit cards and moved to a cash-based budget system. Although I really like the idea, I have been really nervous about having to pay for all of this month's expenses and pay off the credit card this month. Greg and I have been praying for help to maintain our financial stability and it's paid off.
Greg and I planned to do three things to the car this month: get the oil changed, replace the brakes, and registrar the scooter. We guessed this would cost $140. On Friday, I got the oil changed and with a $10 off coupon paid $19.99. Greg replaced the brakes on the car himself. Today I went to registrar the scooter and was a bit nervous. I only had $71 left and no credit card, meaning that if registraring cost more than that then I would not only have wasted my time in walking to and from the DMV and sitting in the line, but also the shame and embarrassment of having to leave, and go through one more month with only one vehicle.
Rex and I walked to the DMV, got our number, and waited. After about 10 minutes my number gets called and I give the teller my papers and such. He takes at least an eternity entering the information into the computer, all the while, I'm hoping not to have to take a walk of shame. Finally, he says it, "That'll be $71.50."
Seriously, that is not just coincidence. I'm not saying an all cash system is for everyone, but apparently Heavenly Father approves of Greg and my choice to make the move and I'm grateful for His help and support in the matter.
We just had an enrichment on "budgeting" the speaker talked about doing an all cash system. I wish Evan would go for that.
ReplyDeleteAlso where did you get the extra 50 cents? And I'm very glad you now have two vehicals so that you and rex can have more freedom.
I'm curious about where the extra 50 cents came from also! Definitely not a coincidence though. Thanks for sharing. :) "Cash is king!"
ReplyDeleteI make a habit of carrying a bit of change in my pocket so I can make more exact change rather than breaking a dollar.
