Thursday morning, 7 am we were off again. 9 1/2 hours through 3 states to Wyoming. And it did not disappoint. I really like Wyoming in the summer--warm but not hot, everything is within 5 or 10 minutes of my sister's house, and wide streets. I have a thing for 2 cars being able to easily pass each other on residential streets--seems like a given but some cities *Charlotte* missed the memo.
We arrived about half way through Frontier Days, which is 10-day long rodeo/festival, which was super fun because I love festivals.
Early Friday morning, we went to the Cheyenne pancake breakfast. For real: they are practicing for feeding the entire city in case of disaster of some sort. They mix the pancakes with a cement mixer. And they were surprisingly tasty. They fed around 45,000 people the day we went. It was crazy organized and not at all chaotic--go to Cheyenne in case of the Apocalypse.
Then we headed over to the main festival, got to walk through the rodeo arena, and saw some Indian dancing.
We were home in time for naps and more outdoor play--because it's not too hot to be outside.
Greg left that night to go on an overnight mountain biking trip with an older gentleman in Amber's ward. Greg will do just about anything to ride his bike.

| Rex preferred board games. He annihilated me at Stratego. I beat him the next go-around. |
Saturday we headed back to downtown Cheyenne a whole 5 minute drive for a pretty awesome parade where actual drunk people were advertising for the local bar. That was my favorite float--drunk people pouring beer on each other in the middle of a family friendly parade. Loved it. Later that day our old neighbors drove over from Laramie for their daughter to play with Alice. She was pretty excited to see Hazel again.

Sunday was 9 o'clock church that may well have been 11 o'clock. The kids all got up so early we just casually got ready and were ready early--not what happens at my house for 9 o'clock church. We came home for naps, lunch and more playing outside. It's at times like these when I wouldn't mind being a sister wife--kids for my kids to play with and half as many chores. Not too shabby.

I love that my grandkids are all best friends.
ReplyDeleteMaverick misses Henry :( Come next year and we can watch the Thunderbirds-my favorite CFD activity.
