Kan-SASS

After driving for two days, we needed a break so we spent a day in Kansas City with Andrea and cousins.  Initially, we intended to go to Wichita to visit Emma and our brand new cousin, but when we learned that the drive to Emma's was 3 hours, not 1 1/2 like we thought, we just couldn't handle the extra 6 hours, so we played in Kansas City instead.  And we lucked out.  We hadn't really planned anything but soon discovered that there was a Legoland Discovery Place in Kansas City and Rex had just asked to go to one a few days before and then I found a buy-one-get-one coupon, and Zora was free, so we went.  The kids had a great time.

Zora enjoyed destroying everyone's creations and making this face.

Henry quickly found the train table and spent the rest of the morning there.
Alice and Peaches made Lego pizza.
Greg used the giant Legos to build Zora a fort--of course he had to fight off a hoard of 8-year-olds to gain dominance in the giant Lego pit, but he succeeded in his fort building.

Rex, as can be expected, took his Lego designing and building very seriously.

After naps and dinner, we gave the kids fudgsicles.  Then we made the mistake of having all the children sleep together in the toy room.  Rex eventually fell asleep.  Everybody else partied until I went up and laid down with them.  I have so many fun memories of doing the same thing with my cousins that I was only a little bit annoyed at the children's refusal to sleep.

It was a fun, fast day.  But I decided that I really like Kansas City, or at the suburb where Andrea lives--nice, wide streets.  Park within walking distance.  Family-friendly biking trail also within walking (or biking distance).
