As many of you probably know, my mother's favorite child came home from his mission just a few short weeks ago and as such mother had to throw him a huge party so she paid for all of us to go to Disneyland. We had a great time and Rex was really good considering his inability to sleep in the car and his inability to sleep through anything above a whisper.
Here are a few of the highlights:
We left on Friday night after Hannah got off work to drive to Grandma's house in Upland, CA. We stopped at McDonald's on the way for diner and Rex had his very first happy meal. He was not impressed. He ate the french fries but only licked the chicken nuggets. I don't blame him.
Saturday, after a long nap, we got back in the car and drove to the beach. Rex loved it once again. He especially enjoyed climbing in other kids' sand holes. Grandpa Brian, Dustin, Greg and I dug Rex his very own hole, but it wasn't another kids' so it just wasn't good enough.
Sunday was church and I lied and said Rex was 18 months (he's 17) so he could go to nursery. He loved it. He ran away from me when I went to pick him up. And, to make up for my lying, I even listened the Relief Society and Sunday School lessons. That counts right?
Monday we woke up bright and early to go to Disneyland. And we had so much fun we stayed all the way until midnight, when I had originally planned to leave around 9 to get Rex in bed. He did manage to fall asleep in the stroller at one point, but the water show woke him up, so Rex didn't get to bed until 1 am. He's still making up for the lost sleep.
I digress.
Mom got us park hopper passes so we did both Disneyland and California Adventures, and enjoyed both. My favorite ride, as usual, was Space Mountain; Greg is undecided, but leaning toward California Screamin'; and Rex was the carousal.
Rex was a little confused for the first few rides--he just looked around dazed--like what the heck are these strange people doing but by Pirates of the Carribean he had figured it out and was pointing and dancing. We hardly went on any rides in Fantasy Land, sigh, because it's the only area of the park without Fast Pass and it has the longest lines, lame. But we did do the important ones: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Dumbo. Ok, you don't really want a play by play of each ride we went on so I'll stop there.
Here's the whole group at the entrance to Disneyland.
And what is Rex doing now you ask? He's sleeping on my bed because he's too mature for a crib he says...I'm not quite ready for the big boy bed yet, so I'll see how long I can hold him off on that one.
The mouse ears: adorable.
ReplyDeleteThe picture in Vegas: he really was delirious. You can see it in his eyes.
Looks like fun!
