A few years ago, Greg bought himself a semi-decent camera. He played with it for a few months and then it became mine. Around this same time, I got sick of driving 45 minutes to the closest (afforable) photo studio so decided to just take my kids' pictures myself. And I'm not good, but I've not terrible either. For the most part, I'm "well, that could have been good if..." Just right on that cusp of being ok. In my defense, I do use a manual focus lens with my fast moving children.
So, as an example, here are some of the pictures from Zora's one-year-old photo shoot we did last week. Most of they could have been good if...but I got a few that were decent enough to print. On the bright side, my kids are cute enough to make up for my lack of skill.
Also, these pictures made me fall in love with my house so much more. Doesn't it just look so cute here?

Could have been good, if it weren't so dark

Could have been good, if it were in focus

Too dark, out of focus and off-center
|
Figured out the light thing, but not so much the focus or center

Thank you pole in face

And thanks to Henry

Again, with the off center.

out of focus again

just slightly off center--again.
I'm asking for an autofocus lens for my birthday so at least I won't have that to worry about--maybe I'll also ask for a photography class too so I can figure out what all that F-stop nonsense means.
She's so cute!!
ReplyDeleteOff-center is artsy and creates interest. And it's not out of focus, it's soft focus. I think the pictures are adorable and your house is a great background. You should rent it out to photographers.
ReplyDeleteShe couldn't be more perfect and you are my daughter so I feel the same way about you.
