I've been having something of a mid-mom crisis. Rex is nearly half way to 18. I've been wondering if I'm spending my time wisely. Usually I default to being at home with the greatest number of children, but should I be trying to be PTA president or t-ball coach or in other ways more involved than I am?
Today I decided to not do my normal of being out of the house all morning. Instead, we took a vote and decided to stay home and have a preschool day, which we don't do often anymore. We learned about water bending light to make rainbows and then we learned about mixing primary colors to make secondary colors. We used shaving cream and added drops of primary colored food coloring. First we mixed the shaving cream to figure out which color we made when combined primary colors. And Alice let her creative side take over and the entire counter was covered in poop brown. And then Henry and Alice were on the counter too and now they and the counter and their clothes were black.

They took a bath; we had lunch and then went on a color walk and found every color of the rainbow.
We read a story, put the baby to bed, and then Rex was home from school. We read a few more stories, had quiet time, then Greg played Legos with the kids while I ironed and made dinner. We ate outside because the weather was perfect so we laid in the hammocks for a while before cleaning up for bed. Henry even fell asleep on the couch while reading bed time stories.
And while I'm still not sure exactly what the best combination of activities for each day, today, was a good day. And I love all the fresh flowers we have around the house now.
