My New Favorite Child

is Cora.  Rhymes with Zora but really is my niece Cora.

Alice has been begging to have a sleep over, but I'm not a huge fan of friend sleep overs so we settled on Cora.  And by settled I mean, I was tempted not to take her home.

Saturday morning Maurine drove down to Charlotte and we traded Rex for Cora.  The rest of the day Cora and Alice played nicely inside while Zora and Henry slept.  I hardly heard a peep from them.  Meanwhile, I weeded the back flower beds, swept the leaves off the back porch, planted my fall flowers, cleaned off the front porch, and swept off part of the driveway.  Then I showered and shaved my legs and still, nothing from the girls.  It was magical.  That night we made a waffle bar for dinner followed by a movie and then they went straight to bed with almost no complaints, minus Henry wanting to sleep with them.  (I feel bad for Henry, he really wants to do stuff with the big kids, but he just cannot control himself).

Sunday was more of the same, as was Monday morning.  They just played while I got stuff done.

I did look around for Rex a few times as we were leaving for church or getting ready for bed because it was too quite, just remember that I'd traded Cora for Rex.

It was so quiet.

Meanwhile in Greensboro, the boys were up by 6:30 every morning and outside by 7 am only to come back in around 11 for food then some screen time and more playing.  Rex was exhausted and ready to come home Monday afternoon.  He played way too much.  Maurine suggested we switch again at Thanksgiving, except this time she gets the girls and I get the boys...I might be sick that weekend.
Alice gave all her My Little Ponies haircuts, but I don't care because I got 3 days worth of stuff done in one day.

My mums.  Fall is coming!

They got out every crafting supply we own and made very intricate fairies complete with purses, compact mirrors, babies, strollers and houses.  That took a while to clean up but again, worth the silence.

Cora even played with Zora quite a bit, which was also very helpful.
