The Big Day(s): Christmas

Since I ranted my last post.  I'll just get to the pictures.

First, Alice and Rex went right to bed on Christmas Eve, which they never do.  They're usually awake playing in their room until 10 or so.  I was pretty excited about this Christmas miracle, until I heard them at 3 am, when they woke me up.  I then got up to pee and get a midnight snack when they heard me and snuck out.  So we watched the Grinch until about 5 when I put them back to bed and Greg threatened them that they wouldn't be able to open presents until 9.  We all got back to bed around 5:40.  Then Henry woke up at 6:15, so he and I watched Sesame Street until about 7:15 when Rex woke back up and proceeded to wake up Alice and Greg.

After Santa visited.

3 am How the Grinch Stole Christmas--the original because my kids are too big of pansies to watch the Jim Carey version or Home Alone.
 Santa brought Henry a slide.
Rex got a fancy mountain bike.
Alice got a Razor scooter.
 Then stockings.

A quick family picture.  Rex and Alice insisted that their Santa presents be in the picture.

The only thing Alice asked for was a hand-made pot holder from Rex.  He did about half of it then got bored, so guess who got to stay up two nights before Christmas finishing it for her so she could have the one thing she asked for.

Alice got a play doh bakery set and a cash registar and quickly went to work setting up shop.

Rex also got some $8 roller blades I scored at a consignment store and spent the day outside on them.

Henry also got this fun climber but it was too big to come inside.

After presents, we had our traditional breakfast of baked french toast, but the kids were too busy playing to eat.  I didn't get any pictures.  We played some more, Henry took a nap, we did a google-hangout with my family, then headed up to Maurine's house, where we ate and played games.  It rained that day so Uncle Erick cleared the garage out for the kids to play.  Rex was on his roller blades all day in the garage.  I had to feed him dinner when we got home at 10 that night.  Henry hang around the food table.  And Alice, I'm not sure what she did.  She likes to go to the 3rd floor and play in Cora's room, so I guess that's where she was.

The next day was fun too.  The weather was good again so we took the kids and bikes and scooters to the park for a few hours in the morning, hit up McDonald's for ice cream, then came home to some relaxing and finally doing dishes from the previous two days.  That day, the day after Christmas, was probably my favorite.   A mild morning at the park with bikes and my favorite people followed by ice cream, couldn't get better.
