January Service Project
At the inspiration of my sister-in-law Andrea and my friend Holly Decker, I've decided that this year we will do one family service project a month. I decided that Saturday would be the day. I checked out the Just Serve app and noticed that the Humane Society of York County wants volunteers of all ages, which is good, since we're of all ages. As I read on, I realized we had to do an orientation and that we missed it. Then I remembered that I hate animals. I hate touching them. I hate smelling them. I just don't like animals. My kids are also afraid of most animals, by design, and I don't want them to get over that hate and start asking for a dog. So I decided we would do some simple park clean up after Rex's game. I, however, picked the cleanest park ever. It was quiet the treasure to find a piece of trash. After about 15 minutes of walking around we found the jack pot of wind blown trash. The kids were thrilled. Aside from Henry who got sick of walking and then rubbed mud all over my pants, the kids had a good time. Next month, maybe I'll put a little more effort into our service project and we can create a long-term relationship with a service group--just not at the humane society.

A service project is a good idea. Maybe we can put our heads together and do a joint service project.
