As promised, an entire post on the race I ran with my almost cousins. I have these three beautiful, put-together, witty, smart, clean (their parents always got a cabin at the family reunions so they were always clean with cute hair while my sister and I camped with our parents so we were just dirty), and in every other way amazing first cousins once removed (my dad's cousins). Seriously, when I have to go somewhere like a wedding or office party and have to look cute, I go through their blogs and try to buy their outfits. They are also all sisters. In case you can't tell from the above description, I basically idolize them.
One of the proposed activities for the Robins Reunion was a 5K natural obstacle course, which Kelly (on the far right) was coordinating. Obviously I had to run this race because Laura, Kelly and Leigh were. But I had to put my training on hold for the month of July due to crazy school and not bringing my BOB with me to Utah. So then I almost backed out. But then Laura and Kelly asked me specifically if I was going to run the race. It was like the Prom Queen and the Homecoming Queen asking me to their sleep over--how could I say no? I was super excited/nervous because in addition to being beautiful etc as listed above, they are all training for a marathon and run half marathons like every day. And then there was me. I'm lucky to get 3 miles in four times a week. But I had to do it.
Race day arrived and, of course, Kelly and Laura show up in matching outfits. Luckily for me, Leigh missed the memo so I wasn't the only odd ball out. And then we ran the race. It was a fun course--it reminded me a lot of my high school courses in that there were a ton of stairs but with a river and a bunch of logs in the way. I survived, held my own, and had a good time. The point is: I ran a race with Kelly, Laura and Leigh. So thanks for the honor ladies.

Wow way to totally boost my self esteem!!! That was like the greatest post ever! I think I might even send a link to everyone I know :). You also failed to mention how you totally smoked us!! Haha great job!! It was so fun to see you at the reunion. Glad you did the run, it was really fun
ReplyDeleteYou know we're not that cool! We love you tons and I'm glad you forgot to mention the part about you smoking us. Nice 7th place finish! You killed that course and it was fun!
ReplyDeleteok funniest thing ever, mostly cause I KNOW this is not the truth! But ill agree with laura--great boost of confidence! I will exchange running a marathon for being as fast as you! Seriously impressive although im still bitter that I waited around for you not knowing you were already smoking us. I would have gotten a bit faster of a time :)
