Does anyone else remember that song? I didn't just make that up, nor did I take my shirt off. I am, in fact, fully clothed.
None the less, we did go to North Carolina at the end of June to visit Greg's family and to celebrate our 3rd aniversary sans Rex (he stayed with his grandparents).
Here's what we did: we took the red eye to North Carolina--Rex slept 45 minutes before we left Provo and was well-drugged, but still fought sleep for the first 1/2 hour of the flight. But we survived and took a 5 hour nap upon arriving in Charlotte at 9:30 am Charlotte time. That same day we were privileged to go to a real North Carolina pig picking, which is similar to a barbecue for you Californians, but not really.
Rex got hot and, being the smart boy that he is, found a way to cool himself down.
We, Greg and Heather but not Rex, then went to Charleston, South Carolina for our anniversary. We visited Patriot's Point, a World War II air craft carrier with at least 6 museums on it, and a very well-preserved plantation. There really is nothing like seeing some of these historical sites in real life to really understand history. I'm a history teacher, get over it. We also ate at some pretty awesome resturants. Night one: FIG (Food is Good), and it was good. I much enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone. Night two: Hominy Grill. A little more relaxed than FIG and equally as tasty, and significantly less expensive. We sat within touching distance of the table when Anthony Bordain sat when he visited the Hominy Grill.
After Charleston, we picked Rex up in Charlotte then continued on to Greensboro to visited Greg's sister and her family. Rex finally got to meet his cousins and he had a great time.
Then we flew home.
All-in-all Rex was a good little boy for the 10 days we were gone so Greg and I got to enjoy visiting with his family. Good times, good times.
