A Few Old Tricks

Seeing as I figured out how to post videos to this blog, I figured I'd share some old ones. I tried to post Rex opening his presents but the clip is over 6 minutes long and was taking forever to load, so these will have to do. I think they're cute.

First, we have Rex and Greg doing a few flips.

Next we have Rex being a fish.

Rex and the Cake.

This is Rex and his cake. He had no idea what to do with it so Greg blew the candle out and then Rex poked his finger in it for a while. Then Greg got a fork and tried to feed some to Rex, but Rex had already eaten a bunch of cake, which Greg had fed to him while I was decorating the cake, so Rex didn't want anymore. He took the fork and threw it on the ground. Cute kid.

And now, eating the cake...

Greg's Birthday

Happy Birthday to Greg!

Here's how it went down:
--Greg wakes up and goes to work early while I consider getting up to make him breakfast. In the end, I made him fried eggs and toast.
--Greg goes to work while I clean the house and make dinner. I also set up all of Greg's presents (a new Rock Band set complete with mic stand and Rock Band II). For dinner, we had meat loaf and macaroni and cheese.
--Greg comes home early and ruins my surprise dinner for him.
--Greg goes to job interview (which he nailed) and gets back very late so we have to rush dinner.
--I pick up Emma.
--The Flanders come over to play Rock Band.
--We play for a few hours.
--Bed.
All in all, I think it was a successful day. Greg enjoyed his dinner and his presents.

Yeah, it's been one of those days.

As I poured Rex his first sippy cup of Crystal Light, I thought, "This probably isn't very good for babies, but we're out of juice..." I should have thought, "Water is good." But I didn't. And now I pay the price.
After drinking massive amounts of Crystal Light for 2 days, Rex started throwing up on Tuesday and on Tuesday night added a runny nose and Wednesday afternoon diarrhea. Wednesday night he pooped in his sleep and didn't wake up until morning so you can imagine what his little buns looked like. And it just kept getting worse. He was pooping every 20 minutes all day Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday, he'd gone through several weeks worth of diapers (check out the Target bag behind that mattress) and he cried when I walked near his diapers and wipes. So I decided to let him go all-natural, expect at nap times.
Well, that obviously didn't really work out because his mattress ended up outside airing out. I put his down for his afternoon nap and he slept for about an hour and then woke up to poop. I changed him and rocked him for a bit and then he pooped again, so I took off his old diaper and thought, "He'd pooped twice now, he's probably good for the rest of his nap." So I put him down and leave. About 10 minutes, later I hear Rex get up but didn't go in right away. When I did go in, he's standing in the corner of the crib pointing at the mattress where he had peep. How sweet of him to point it out for me. But of course, he was just this much away from the mattress pad and hit the actual mattress.
We spent the rest of the day in the kitchen, my bedroom, and the basement, any where without carpet. And I had a mop in hand at all times. He pooped on the floor about 6 times.

Cousins

One of my cousins came down from Farmington today so I watched his three children while he and his very pregnant wife got once last semi-date in before baby #4 comes. We had a great time. The older two enjoyed Rex's clubhouse, that he still refuses to use, and made a car out of the box that Greg's guns came in. Meanwhile, Jonas and Rex took a bath so as to stay clear of the big kids. Rex enjoyed having a bath buddy and Jonas tolerated him. It was a fun time, but I totally understand why some houses are not as clean as I think they should be and moms are too tired to move at the end of the day. Sometimes I think I want another kid, but I think I will continue to borrow other people's to fulfill that desire for a while.

Guns

For his birthday, Greg had his brother-in-law ship out four of his. That's right, four. And he has several more just lying around his parents' house in North Carolina. After forcing me to sit in the front window for three days, just in case the guns came, and spending an entire night reassembling and cuddling with his guns, Greg and his buddies went shooting today. Emma and I also went, but sat in the car most of the time. For some reason the joy of shooting a gun does not make my feet warm. I suggested that we try again in June or July. But Greg had a good time and nobody got hurt so I'm happy.
